GUIDELINES FOR THE OPERATION OF A TOURING ASSEMBLY(STATIC CRUISE)
On 3rd/4th May 2006, "The Making a Change" conference was jointly held by the Local Authority Support Unit (LASU) and Cruisesport to make provision for the illegal/illicit use of both motorcycles and motor vehicles.
The conference looked at the problems caused by the illicit use of motor vehicles and what delegates specifically want to achieve concerning these problems. Consideration was also given to the current mechanisms in place to tackle these problems.
Whilst Cruisesport addressed the problem of illegal cruises for motor vehicles, LASU looked at the problem of mini bikes and off road motorcycles.
The Cruisesport presentation looked at the perception of cruising by the general public and demonstrated the legal activities which Cruisesport has run over the last four years. If you are interested in receiving a Powerpoint demonstartion of the the conference please contact Steve Cope at Cruisesport on (01732) 783140 or by e-mail steve@cruisesport.com
To tackle the 'cause' rather than 'effect' of these illegal activities, Cruisesport has now published a set of guidelines concerning the operation of a legal cruise or a Touring Assembly. Whilst these Guidance notes do relate to the safe running and organisation of a Cruise/Touring Assembly, they do not cover design, construction or maintenance of a suitable venue.
The Guidelines will be continually updated and Cruisesport would be more than welcome to receive input/comment on areas of improvement and/or alteration. If you would like to contribute to updating these guidelines please feel free to contact Steve Cope.
We would like to say a very big thank you to, Chris and Steff from CMD, Wee Man and Lou, Si "Leatherhead, The Streetlife Tv Team , and Cruise Leics.
Could not of done it with out you all.
