ULTIMATE STREET CAR 2006
Ultimate Street Car 2006 is now over! And somehow, things were even bigger, better and hotter than last year! Thousands of modders and their awesome selection of custom cars flooded the Santa Pod site from the crack of dawn (who's she?) on Friday. The sheer number of cars making their way to the Pod was a good sign that this was going to be a great USC.
Friday daytime was all about the race track, with Run What Ya Brung action kicking off early, and some stout times were being laid down right from the word go. Joining the run what ya brungers on track were mega-quick demo cars including the famous Jet Car. Friday evening saw the dance tent rammed with thousands of sweaty bodies going mad to Ibiza classics, and Fuelers bar rocked to high BPM drum and bass. Saturday morning started bright, sunny and in many cases a little hung-over, but it wasn't long before it went full-on USC as the last of the weekenders arrived and enjoyed a packed trade village, monster track action, burnout competition, drifting demos and of course the inevitable USC nudity both on and off the stage! The Mr & Miss USC competition has a new home, on Saturday night, and the hilarious antics stepped up a level, with more stupidity and nudity than ever. After hard-fought rounds of football skills, strongman antics and thong wearing, the pint-sized Wee Man aka Jason Owen was crowned as Mr USC. Miss USC was a much wetter contest, with the emphasis being on soaping up bare, heaving bosoms. For the first time ever, we have a two-time winner, with Geordie lass Vicki Coleman winning the title of Miss USC for the second year in a row.
Saturday night once again played host to the exhaust flame out competition, and some superb entrants lined up to do battle in the setting sun. Despite some new cars being present, it was Craig Dean in his butane-injected Sierra who got the crowd going wild with his 20ft flames, and took the flame out title for the second year in a row. Saturday night in the dance tent was hosted by the beautiful and talented Amber D, who whipped the crowd into a frenzy with her mix of dance anthems and the hottest new tracks, while Fuelers Bar was packed with ravers after something a bit different. The new late licence allowed the party to go on until 1am, and it was lapped up by every one of the dance-heads present. The Show & Shine competition on Sunday was the best ever at USC, check out the winners on the Show & Shine page. A wealth of top promotional talent battled it out in the Miss Promo competition with the trophy going to Nikki Lee. Over on the track, the final RWYB runs of the weekend were being made, and it was a very high-class field of entrants who made up the 1,500 sign-ons! The average RWYB time was 14.1 seconds. Visit the Run What Ya Brung page for full details of the fastest car in each class at USC 2006. Notably, Class C appears to be a new Front Wheel Drive UK record, so well done to Andy!
All in all, this was not only the fastest, but the biggest and best USC ever! |
